Trip essentials

🛂
Visa
Most Western passport holders get 90 days visa-free on arrival. No application needed. Always check current rules before travel.
💰
Currency
Moroccan Dirham (MAD). Not exchangeable outside Morocco, get cash at airport or ATMs. Cards accepted in hotels and bigger restaurants.
🌡️
Best time to visit
March–May and September–November are ideal. Avoid July–August in inland cities — 40°C+ heat is real. Coast is fine year-round.
🚌
Getting around
CTM buses between cities are reliable and cheap. Trains connect Tangier–Casablanca–Marrakech. Grands taxis for shorter routes.
📱
SIM card
Buy a Maroc Telecom or Inwi SIM at the airport. 10–20 MAD for a SIM, data packages are cheap. Bring your passport.
🔌
Plugs & power
European-style round 2-pin plugs (Type C/E). 220V. UK and US visitors need an adaptor.
🩺
Health
No vaccines required. Drink bottled water. Travel insurance is essential, get one that covers medical evacuation.
👗
What to wear
Dress modestly in medinas — covered shoulders and knees. Beach towns are more relaxed. Always carry a scarf.
